Hello!
Someone asked me over the weekend, “Are your sweaters ready?” and I took that question very seriously. As someone who re-arranges their closet multiple times every season, of course my sweaters are ready. They’ve been ready for months. ;)
Speaking of weekends, how was yours? I know it’s Tuesday and perhaps the weekend already feels long gone, but if it was a fun one in any way, the memories are (hopefully) still lingering. And if it was anything besides fun - busy, hectic, difficult, tiring - or all of the above, I hope this new week is a fresh, positive start.
Ours was busy! And very social. We saw our families, spent loads of time walking Pepper, and went for brunch on Sunday with a close friend; an activity that should happen far more often.
Now, here we are on Tuesday and I am here to report the following: there is nothing better than spending time with your favorite folks in-person, face-to-face, away from phones and all of the devices. Don’t get me wrong. I am someone who enjoys social media. I use it constantly and yet, nothing beats a heap of time spent with friends or family. When the last thing on one’s mind is their phone/tech device/social media presence, then you know it’s a successful gathering; time well spent!
Forgetting about my phone is the telltale sign of a good time and often a sign of actual relaxation. Yes, we watch TV to unwind and scroll mindlessly and watch silly dog videos and share silly dog photos, and search for coats, but the good stuff - when there’s no interest in reaching for the phone to find any of that - is when the important stuff is happening.
Of course this isn’t an earth-shattering revelation, but I hope it’s a good reminder: get off your phone and go see your friends and family. It will be worth it! Besides, if most of your face-time is on FaceTime, then who can see your cool shoes and pants?
The seasons have changed and yes, it’s Sweater Season. Are you prepared? Sweater Season is also Fleece Season so I hope your closet is ready. I recently organized the sweaters and fleece and got ready for all of the cold months ahead by sorting them by color, material, thickness, and brand. I like to be organized!
See below for five of my favorite brands that make the coziest sweaters or fleece that are perfect for long walks in the cold, dinner by the fire, or a gathering (in person!) with your favorite faces. I have included a link to my favorite styles from each.
Alex Mill - pop over to the Men’s section for the Jordan Sweater in Washed Cashmere and thank me later. Super-soft and looks chic with everything. Plus, there’s a color for every day of the week. ;)
J.Crew - A great price point for super-soft cashmere that comes in loads of colors and a variety of styles. Classics for a reason and they last year after year.
Dudley Stephens - The fleece that changed it all back in 2020, I have a collection of their turtlenecks that I wear on rotation during the coldest winter days. My go-to is the Park Slope, but they now have a large assortment of styles (and fabrics) to choose from in a wide-array of colors.
Sezane - All of the knitwear is cozy and cool, but one of my favorites is the Lucas Jumper. This style is offered in a handful of colors and all of them will look so chic all winter long.
Jenni Kayne - Can’t go wrong with any of the options from this CA-based label. From cashmere to wool to everything in between, I highly recommend checking out the Everyday Sweater or the Alpaca Cocoon Crewneck.
I am not in Holiday Mode quite yet, we’re barely into November, but I know this month and next are two of the busiest for everyone. So for now, I’ll share a Buffet of goodies including my new favorite cookie, a great water bottle, and where you should go for lunch next weekend - it’s only four days away! ;)
Jury is out on if I will ever want a Trench Coat. But they sure are popular!
Pop over to MPIX for all of your photo-printing needs especially right now when everything is 25% off! Not sponsored - I just love their service.
A few months ago I joined the Water Bottle Club and I must recommend the Trek Tumbler from Simple Modern. It’s perfect!
Twist Bakery recently announced a Triple Chocolate Cookie and I am here to tell you it’s fantastic. Go get a few. ;)
Adding another “must go” spot to my gluten free (no cross-contamination) fries list: The Street Bar located at The Newbury hotel in Boston. No notes; they are perfect. You will need more than one order if you’re willing to share. ;)
We recently went to Davio’s for dinner and I’m happy to report that it’s going back into our rotation. Their GF menu is extensive, the staff is super friendly, and the food is really good! I’ve had GF pasta both times we’ve been and it was delicious. Their GF rolls are also scrumptious and served piping hot!
Caesar Parm Roasted Broccoli will be making an appearance on our dinner table in the very near future. Yum!
Cheers and joy,
Mollie
