Hello!
Yes, it’s Thursday and yes I usually send this out on Tuesday. Surprise! Here it is, in mini-form, for your Thursday enjoyment. Pairs well with the warmth and sunshine that’s currently flooding our kitchen.
For all of the goal-setters, driven ones, and those trying to get through something they deem difficult…
Last weekend I reached a fitness goal that had taken many months to finally reach. Perhaps it was the pride I felt in finally achieving it, maybe it was the music blaring a favorite tune as I crossed that goal off my list, or maybe it was a much-needed release from all sorts of stress and pressure (put on by myself), but I fully broke down and cried at the end of my Peloton ride during the final one-minute cool down. Wowza. You weren’t expecting that, were you? It’s OK. I was not planning for it to happen, either.
I finished the ride, un-clipped, took off my shoes and socks, and felt so incredibly FREE. I had pushed and pushed and worked and worked to achieve this fitness goal and it felt so freaking good to finally be there. Of course, this situation can also serve as a metaphor in other areas of my life when I’ve set a goal and made things happen regardless of the effort involved. I love to get big things done and feel that immense pride when they happen.
This mindset can also be applied to the tenacity, perseverance, and strength required to get through the tough parts of life. I will always call myself an optimist and someone who values being positive regardless of circumstance, but life can be HARD. And it’s the tough parts that make the fun parts far more valuable and enjoyable (in my opinion).
When I’m faced with a goal I’ve set for myself or a decision I’ve made that requires putting in the work to get it done, I know the positive outcome I’m striving toward will always be worth that FREE feeling. Are you setting any goals these days or working toward one currently? I’m sending you all the good vibes to reach that goal - it will feel incredible!
Beyond fitness goals, I have some big changes coming right up that are pretty exciting. Stay tuned…
On that note, I am here to present you with a few links for the Buffet and a message of gratitude. As Thanksgiving (my favorite) is literally one week from today and all of the holiday hoopla is right behind it, I am striving toward a more-centered season of thanks and giving. Now, I know that sounds ridiculous and it’s one of those “buzzy” phrases, but I’m trying it out this time.
In addition to actively spending more time with friends and family this holiday season, I want to let each of you know how thankful I am that you’re here each week, reading and relaxing with Flavor Buffet.
I hope the letter provides you with a moment of fun, a moment to explore something new, and a positive interlude amidst a season that’s filled with all sorts of chaos and calm (hopefully more of the calm). I appreciate that you have subscribed and that you stick around to read what’s happening each time this appears in your inbox. I am so very thankful for you. :)
While I have decided against traditional gift guides per my recent IG poll, that doesn’t mean I don’t love to buy presents!
Each week during the holiday season the links below will consist of highly-curated items that I’m either loving and strongly recommend or items I’m considering as gifts for others (or for my wish list). Enjoy!
A collab between Birkenstock and The Great?! I love a splatter paint moment.
The Grande Fanny from Clare V is one of my most-used items. It would be an incredible gift - so many colors to choose from!
This Puff Sleeve Denim Jacket from the Gap is one of my favorites to wear during a cool (not cold) night out.
Canada Goose pieces last for a long time; I’m eyeing this red jacket for a pop of color in my outerwear assortment.
A pair of the Adidas Samba sneaker is a great gift for anyone. Casual, cool, and work with every outfit.
For someone you know well, buy them pants! The Neil Straight Leg Pant is one of my favorite non-denim styles; comfy, flattering, and chic with every shoe.
Does Pepper (or anyone’s dog) need this Ruffwear Furness Jacket? I can’t get enough of that red color.
Honestly, a cool candle in a chic container is a wonderful gift. A few of my favorites are from Diptyque, Nest, Lafco, and Otherland.
Cheers and joy,
Mollie
