Hello! Long time no see…
If you were wondering what happened to the (original) newsletter, I completely understand. I let it disappear. I took a longer-than-expected hiatus from writing, but I am getting back into the swing of things and getting back on track. Starting with Substack. Yes, I have changed the home of this weekly letter. Why? Why not?! Change is good. It’s hard. but good. Also, life is good. It’s hard, but good.
Instead of mindless paragraphs discussing my writing break and pondering why I took a pause, let’s get right into it, shall we? There’s goodness to discuss and lots of shoes to peruse. Oh, you thought this was only going to be about food? Nope. Remember? Change can be is good.
It is a truly beautiful fall morning (day two!) and the temperature is giving way to the change of seasons. If you’re in the northeast, like me, this is a welcome change. Summer was ridiculously hot. I am a jacket person. And while I can appreciate a sunny boat ride with my sun-kissed shoulders turning a better shade of pale than usual (wait, I never did that this summer), I do prefer the fall and (early) winter. Why? Because the clothes are so. much. better. And so are the shoes. :)
Readers from always-warm-climates, I’m sorry (but not sorry). I just love jackets. And sweaters. And not sweating constantly. Oh, you don’t sweat much? Lucky. I have never been in that club. I am extremely unfamiliar.
Speaking of clubs, I haven’t been to an actual club in well over a decade. Have you?Was it fun? I truly cannot remember. I think my style of club these days is far more “great cocktails, sleek furniture, and home by 9pm” than “mind-numbing music and overpriced everything and sticking around until last call.” But let’s be real: it is a thrill when one is allowed in or gets added to “The List.” It feels cool! Are we still saying cool? I am.
On a somewhat-related front, I went to a work event in June (it was held at a club-of-sorts), I was on The List, and man did I feel fancy and special getting my ID checked and being let in to walk down the stairs into a very dark space with wicked loud music. It actually was pretty fun. But I digress…
If you have been following for a while (on IG, on the website, wherever), you know I am diligent about fitness, very into (gluten free) food, and definitely follow fashion. I am who I am. Never apologize for being yourself! It has taken me 37 years (and one month) to believe that and I’m going to say it here for everyone as well - be yourself. It’s the best way to be.
Taking a page from my blog series, Flavor Buffet, it’s now time for this week’s roundup!
In no particular order, but a little order because I like to be organized, some articles, recipes, and style worth your while…
Fall means Cozy Flavors Daily and that means this goat cheese risotto is landing on our table ASAP.
This time of year is also prime cookbook season and I definitely need to get Gaby Dalkin’s latest title, Take It Easy, as soon as it’s out next week.
A host of weeknight dinner ideas served with eggs that made me laugh. I, too, go into dinner-survival-mode when Seth isn’t home to make dinner (eek). Did I mention I like to eat, but not cook?
Loved this ‘Week of Outfits’ not just for the clothes, but the story the person shared as well. Hit close to home and made me feel stronger for being the positive human I am despite tough stuff happening in the past.
Have I reminded you yet again to buy I Dream of Dinner by Ali Slagle? It’s the best. We use it for multiple meals each week.
As I type, I’m trying to figure out when I’m going to go try on these off-white jeans because I need want more pants (that go with denim shirts) in my life.
Very excited for Alison Roman’s cooking show to arrive on CNN. Yup! I love TV.
Late to the party, but did you notice how good the online Anthropologie Home section looks? I love to browse.
Re-discovered these Vince Platform Slip-On Sneakers in my closet and am feeling like I have a whole new lease on life. OK, that’s dramatic. I’m happy to have found them and highly recommend this style. They go with everything.
More to come on the home decor front, but I frequently browse New England Loom for wonderful, one-of-a-kind vintage rugs. Love them!
Thank you so much for reading! I’m thrilled to have you here, part of the club. You’ll always be on the list. ;)
Cheers and joy,
Mollie
