Hello!
I hope you’re wearing all of the layers right now if you live someplace the “deep freeze” has planted itself for the weekend. I broke out the cashmere socks, the heavy-weight sweater(s) and even poked around for my hat! I am not a hat person. But when the temperatures are diving below zero, despite the sun blasting through the windows, even I will find something to cover my head when I eventually go outside. Stay warm and safe, friends!
In other news, it’s a fresh month! February has arrived and while we are not flipping to spring just yet (did I mention it’s wicked cold?), we are inching closer day by day. Sunset is finally around/after 5pm which is pretty terrific and the plethora of spring fashion ads being sent my way can only mean one thing: eventually it will be warm! For now, I’m continuing to organize my closet and planning a spot to store sweaters when the time comes. That time is not today.
February is a fun month filled with birthdays, Valentine’s Day, and a general uplifting mindset since we got through January (the longest month, always). Speaking of birthdays, today is my mom’s birthday. Happy Birthday to her! She is pretty darn amazing and I’m looking forward to celebrating with her! I’d tell you our plans, but I do think she reads this so… surprises all around. :) Happy Birthday, Mom. You’re simply the best.
I would love to tell you other excitement that’s going on right now, but given we’re only three days into the month… I don’t yet have a lot of updates! We started watching the show ‘Shrinking’ on AppleTV+ and I really love it. Harrison Ford and Jason Segel are both excellent in this comedy-drama and it’s exactly my type of show: honest, funny, and relatable in a variety of ways. Highly recommend!
Food-wise we’re coming up on the Super Bowl next weekend which means it’s our annual “Make Junk for Dinner” Sunday night meal. I can’t wait! I enjoy watching the game to a degree, but I’m in it for the commercials and food. We haven’t decided on a game plan (pun intended), but I’ve been craving queso ever since our most-recent visit to Lone Star in Allston.
I aim to be dairy-free most of the time, but I truly cannot resist a bowl of queso and chips. Scrumptious. Other dishes that are in the running include spinach-artichoke dip, fish tacos, carnitas, or a combination of those with a side of Potato Chip Buffet. You’ll just have to wait and see! Now I’m hungry…

We’re on break this week! Find us in the kitchen looking for leftovers or a bag of pretzels. ;)
Well, friends, that’s it for today! I know - I was brief! Let’s stay warm, find our hats, and have a great (chill) weekend. As always, a Buffet is below for your weekend reading. Enjoy!
