Hello!
I’m back this week after a brief break for Thanksgiving and all of sudden the holidays have arrived. Time… it just keeps going! A while ago I had mentioned being on the fence regarding gift guides, but now that we’re in December and all of the holiday hurrah is everywhere, I have changed my mind. :)
After the jump, I will be sharing my first of three(!) gift guides as we make our way through the busiest month of the year. Lucky you…the gift guides are in addition to the weekly Buffet. Yay! Gift guides will run for three Fridays in a row (starting today) so be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss a single gift!
In other news, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and ate all of the deliciousness that covered tables near and far. We went to two(!) Thanksgiving gatherings in the same day and it was actually pretty fabulous. Was I wary of eating anything for a couple days afterward? Yes. But it was great to spend plenty of time with family and friends and unwind a bit after a very packed fall.
While Thanksgiving was such a treat, we did have a bit of a rough week amidst the joy and incredible food. Our beloved cat, Athens, passed away after more than 18 years of being in our lives (Seth had her since 2004!). She was the cutest, sweetest, and most endearing animal. She loved spending time with us (snuggling was truly her favorite) and it has definitely been an adjustment around here without her.
I posted a tribute to Athens on Instagram and the comments were so incredibly thoughtful. Sometimes I wonder if I’m reaching anyone with what I share on social media, but that post really brought out the kindness in this community. Thank you for your comments, personal notes, and plenty of support during this time. It means so much to us, truly. Athens was the best and we miss her a lot.
And now, without further ado… *cue the holiday tunes*
[Gluten Free] Mollie D: Holiday Gift Guide #1
Fashion: Gifts to be worn all season long (and beyond)
Jenni Kayne Corduroy Jacket - perfect for layering over a tee or even a thin sweater, this oversized jacket is my new favorite to look put-together, but still comfy.
Jenni Kayne Alpaca Cocoon Crewneck - so soft and cozy, this one is excellent for the colder (but still chic) days.
Jenni Kayne - I am a big fan of this CA-based brand and can attest to the quality of the clothes and shoes. Investment pieces that really last and always look effortlessly cool.
Varley Jones Coat - It’s a teddy-bear-style coat, but with a bit more “look” and very awesome pockets.
Varley - a newer-to-me brand that makes terrific activewear, coats, and all sorts of other pieces for your on-the-go life.
Banana Republic Alps Puffer Jacket - a great, cropped jacket that’s very warm and stylish. Available in petite sizing as well!
REI Co-op Norseland Insulated Parka - I saw this jacket while browsing around and couldn’t help but try it on. The fit is fantastic, the pockets are soft and the color goes with everything. Win!
Alex Mill Camil Cable Sweater - a cozy, stylish piece that will keep you warm for several winters. I love the side slits and mock-neck design.
Alex Mill The Whatever Shirt - a bit of a “shacket” this heavier-weight denim shirt has side slit pockets(!) and goes with everything. Good for layering over a tee and under a cozy coat (see options above!).
Alex Mill - this brand has quickly become a staple in my closet. I love that the clothes fit well and are timeless designs across all seasons. From shirts to sweaters to tees and pants, I am a big fan (and loyal customer).
AYR The Deep End Oxford Cotton - nothing says “relaxed chic” to me like a white button down that’s somewhat oversized. This one is perfect!
AYR - my favorite brand for button-down shirts, lightweight tees, and so much more. The brand’s name, AYR, means “All Year Round” and it’s very accurate.
Outdoor Voices Organic Cotton Terry Snap Sweatshirt - I love this shade of blue and that this sweatshirt has become a weekend go-to when it’s just too warm for a sweater.
Outdoor Voices - high-quality activewear that’s perfect for the gym, errands, or just lounging at home.
Madewell Perfect Vintage Denim - the denim I reach for more than any other style, this cut is comfortable, mild stretch, and is cut perfectly for every height!
Veja Campo Sneaker - comfortable out of the box and look good with all outfits. Veja sneakers just go with…everything.
Nike Daybreak Sneaker - great for long walks, errands, life.
Vince Suede Warren Sneaker - ultra-lightweight and the platform heightens (pun intended) every look.
Birkenstock Arizona Big Buckle Shearling Sandal - so soft, so comfy, such a great gift.
Ugg Classic Ultra Mini - turns out Uggs are still comfy as ever and I’ve been wearing these every single night. Many color options!
Did I miss anything? Send me a note if you’re looking for a stylish piece you didn’t see on this list or other recommendations from the brands mentioned.
Stay tuned for next week…Gift Guide #2: Home + Decor!

A few of these luxe candles will be in the gift guide next week. ;)
Inflation has hit us all and it’s extremely apparent while grocery shopping.
Studying this guide to the best bath towels because we need new ones, like, now.
It’s no secret that I love outerwear, but one of the reasons is because I love getting outside during the winter! It’s incredibly refreshing and boosts my mood, always.
Have you seen ‘The Menu’ yet? I haven’t but this interview with the writers has made me want to queue it up for the weekend.
Speaking of eating, here is a great roundup of food gifts. Those Spanish potato chips are delicious!
My sweet tooth kicks in (more than usual) during December and I have my eye on these Easy Vanilla Almond Sugar Cookies. Yum!
Just for fun (holiday) luxury: The new Tiffany Lock collection includes this dazzling bangle and I love it.
Sneaks of the Week: I ordered the Nike Waffle One (currently on sale) and they are so comfortable! I love the bright colors, mesh panels, and fun design. Photo below. :)
Cheers and joy,
